NES Central recently completed the undergrounding of the electrical network throughout Cardrona Village. NES Central were chosen by the Queenstown Lakes District Council and Aurora Energy Ltd over other contractors for the laying of cables, installing switchgear and ground mounted transformers. All poles were removed once the underground system was livened.

All aspects of the contract went as planned and was completed within the given timeframe and the outcome has given the village a real lift aesthetically.

NES Central have now been awarded the QLDC contract to install new period style streetlights in Cardrona. This lighting system is using old style poles designed by QLDC and modern (but still in the old style) LED luminaries and will certainly add to the rustic look of the Village.

• A large upgrade of the Invercargill Airport runway lighting system.

• Installation of temporary traffic control equipment for the Queens Drive roading upgrade including street lighting.
  
  
• Completed and installation of the underground electrical cabling  for Bupa ’s project in Christchurch (Retirement village). 
• About the project: This includes the installation of Bupa’s own fibre optic communication ducts and the installation of Chorus fibre ducts and pits for 47 brand new two bedroom units and a community centre. We are also supplying and installing all of the area lighting which includes 10 streetlights.
  
  

• Highland Park Subdivision in Hagant Alexander Drive, Mosgiel.  
  

  About the project: This is a new 15 stage development for a 214 Lot Sub-division.  Stage 1 was completed by NES Central  in March 2012, Stage 2 and 3 have since been completed and we are currently working on Stage 4.  Stage 5 is due to begin in August 2013.  Stage 1-5 consists of the Installation of a reticulated underground 400V TUDS System, Groundmount Transformers, Ring Main Units and Streetlights.

  About the project:  As the Southland A & P Association show is now being held at Bainfield Park, they approached us for advice on getting power to the site. 
  To prevent paying line charges right through the year and the large initial cost of installing a transformer and associated equipment, we installed five permanent stainless steel supply boxes with underground cables to a central point. This way each time the site is used they just hire a generator to power the whole site. The cost saving to the client are huge.
